Episode 3: the Flow Experience

High likely, someone has ever told you as well to just “go with the flow”. Although this usually means to simply participate in wherever a situation takes you, there is a deeper underlying meaning to this - the Flow is the zone or mental state we reach once we are fully immersed in an activity. We are completely absorbed in the process of creating something and experience a feeling of full involvement, energized focus and enjoyment. The process of creating art, for example, can cause you to experience a state of ecstasy - yet an exact balance of certain conditions is required. This episode unfolds the neurological and scientific reasoning behind the statement of “losing yourself in something” and explores why this is not just a romantic exaggeration.
